Bubble Catcher 2024
Media performative device installation. LED light ring, bubble machine.

A motorised LED light ring performs a single, repeating task: to catch soap bubbles produced by a machine positioned nearby. The ring rotates and illuminates. The bubbles drift, collide, pass through, or burst on contact. The two systems operate according to entirely different logics, one mechanical and cyclical, the other fluid and entropic.

What emerges is an unstable choreography between a device that insists on capture and a material that refuses to be held. The work stages a confrontation between programmed behaviour and physical indeterminacy, where moments of apparent success are incidental rather than engineered. Bubble Catcher quietly asks what it means for a system to reach for something it was never designed to grasp.
