ABOUT

Konstantina Mavridou is a media and conceptual artist working with installations, hybrid objects, and time-based works. Her practice explores how material systems—such as stone, water, air, light, and mechanical structures—intersect with invisible infrastructures of information, control, and circulation.

Through spatial setups and sculptural interfaces, she creates situations where perception itself becomes an active component of the work. Screens, objects, and natural elements operate not as representations, but as agents that reveal thresholds between physical presence and mediated experience.

Her work is research-driven and often developed through long-term projects, residencies, and exhibition contexts, engaging with questions of orientation, scale, and the ways contemporary systems reorganize how we sense and inhabit space.

STATEMENT

Short Statement

My practice investigates how material environments absorb, reflect, and transmit invisible systems—technological, informational, and atmospheric. I work with installations and hybrid objects that function as interfaces, inviting the viewer to experience moments of disorientation, pause, and recalibration within controlled spatial conditions.

Full Statement

My artistic practice focuses on the relationship between material systems and invisible infrastructures that shape contemporary experience. I work primarily with installations, hybrid sculptural objects, and time-based media, using elements such as stone, water, light, air, screens, and mechanical devices to construct spatial situations rather than representations.

I am interested in how environments operate as interfaces—how perception, orientation, and bodily presence are subtly guided by systems that often remain unseen. Rather than illustrating technology or networks directly, my work translates their logic into physical and sensory conditions. Materials are treated not symbolically, but operationally: they hold, redirect, obstruct, or reveal flows of information, energy, or attention.

Many of my projects unfold over extended periods, allowing research, experimentation, and site-specific adaptation to shape the final form. Through this process, I explore states of transition: between physical and mediated space, natural and constructed systems, control and instability. The viewer is not positioned as a passive observer, but as a participant whose movement, scale, and perception complete the work.

Ultimately, my practice seeks to create moments where familiar structures momentarily lose their stability, opening space for awareness of the systems—technical, environmental, and cultural—that silently organize our everyday realities.
